The Faculty of Clinical Sciences is a service Faculty for the training of Medical students; it was established in the year 1998.
The Faculty at its inception had Prof. D. A. Olatunbosun as its pioneer Dean while it took off with the following Departments:
- Department of Community Medicine
- Department of Surgery
- Department of Medicine
- Department of Peadiatrics and Child Health
- Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
HISTORY OF THE FACULTY
The clinical arms of training commenced in Osogbo in 1998. Since the accreditation of the College in 2000, Faculty has continued to make landmark progress and achievements in the area of training and research that many of the Faculty team members are classified as reputable international scholars.
ORGANISATION OF THE FACULTY
The administrative structure of the Faculty is Committee based. Basically, specific functions of the Faculty are delegated to various committees and each committee has specific terms of reference with membership.
PHILOSOPHY OF THE FACULTY
The philosophy of the Faculty is to train Physicians capable of working in any part of the world and to develop research programmes that primarily address the actual health needs of the community. Thus, the MBBS Curriculum is structured to foster and encourage students to learn in the most effective way.
